Sometime last week Ali shared the video below with me. I was mesmerized, the boys were mesmerized, I watched it twice, then a third time. I just love the animation, the simple concept of A to Z and the music, oh how the music gets me. This past Sunday we were at the Seattle Center. We happened to walk past a giant “A” in the parking garage. I immediately thought of the video and how fun it would be to do our own little A to Z project. As soon as I ran back and snapped a picture of the “A,” our search for the rest of the alphabet was on! The whole family was really in to it. The boys wrote the alphabet down on a piece of paper and crossed off the letters as we found them. I’m sure those who saw us high-fiving over “X,” “Y’s” and “Z’s” probably thought we were crazy, but it was so much fun! We ended the search in Capital Hill (where we celebrated with some yummy scoops of Molly Moon’s ice cream). It was a YUMMY ending to such a fun-filled day! Check out the Alphabet 2 video below and see if it inspires a family project of your own!

PS- All the images above were taken with my iphone using the ShakeItPhoto App. It beats lugging the Nikon around for a day out with the family.

This is one of my favorite spots to photograph in Tampa and one of my favorite families to photograph too. We were brought together by our sweet friend, Jaime, who happened to be my neighbor (four doors down) in Tampa, which is where Quigley would go to when he ran away. Quigs LOVED her dog, Oscar and I LOVED Jaime (and still do)–we were both really lucky! Okay, I’m totally getting off track here, but my point is that thanks to Jaime, I now have this beautiful family in my life. And, this session was especially memorable because I met and photographed their sweet little O. for the first time. If I could have packed her in my suitcase and taken her back with me to Seattle, I would have! She smiled and giggled the entire time. She is such a perfect little addition to their lovely, lovely family (yes, they are extra lovely).

With my upcoming Tampa trip just a month away, I thought I’d share some of my favorite Tampa sessions from earlier this year. So, be on the look out for more lovely Tampa families over the next few weeks. First up, the M. family. We met on a Friday night. It was our first time meeting. I loved them instantly! At one point during the session we were walking downtown with the most random things in hand: a trampoline, toy dinosaurs, football helmets, graham crackers and a basketball. We just kept saying, “it’s what we do on Friday nights.” We had lots of laughs during our time together. I would hang with them any Friday night!

Oh, and just a quick scheduling note: Seattle Fall and Holiday sessions are in full swing. If you are interested in booking a session, please email me through the website or at info@kristieserra.com. I will be traveling to Tampa October 6-9 for work. My regular sessions are completely booked, however, I do have two remaining Be Merry! mini session spots available. If you are interested in more information or booking a mini session, email me at info@kristieserra.com.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend! Until next time.

Baby H. (the cutie at the very top), who I guess I can’t call a “baby” anymore since he turned TWO today and now has a baby sister, seriously melts my heart! It runs in the family though, he’s got two of the most adorable and funny big sisters and the sweetest itty bitty baby sister ever! It just goes to show if your mom’s name is “J Sizzle” (okay, Jordon, but I call her J Sizzle or Siz), you’re going to be pretty darn special!

I spent the weekend with them in Arkansas just a couple of weeks ago. It was the weekend Ali’s bug was stolen in Los Angeles. If I couldn’t have been with Ali, I was so glad to be with my dear friends. I was a total mess and they brought me so much sunshine. I could’ve cried the entire weekend, but instead they had me laughing and smiling, rolling on the living room floor with the kiddos and playing hide ‘n seek upstairs. Oh, how I adore them with all my heart! It’s hard to believe it’s been two and a half short years since they’ve been in my life, seems like we’ve had a lifetime of friendship!

It occurred to us the night before I was leaving that we hadn’t taken a single image, it must have been 6:30 at that point. So, we quickly got the kiddos together for a little impromptu camera moment. Thankfully we had a teeny tiny bit of summer evening light left to play with. I just love the images we captured!

Happy Birthday to the sweetest little love, H. and big hugs to one of my very favorite families ever!

One last summer hoorah. It was so needed. It was a total surprise from my dad. It was so wonderful. I wanted this trip to be about being together in the moment, about having FUN. By my own doing, I often stay behind the camera on vacations and during outings, which then keeps me at my computer for hours. So, the macbook and nikon stayed home. A quick pic here and there with the iphone is all I needed. It felt liberating.

We spent most of our days at the beach, one day in Santa Monica and the other in Malibu. The weather was fabulous and the waves were huge. We spent some time driving around Los Angeles as well looking for Ali’s vw bug. No luck, but we are hopeful that it will turn up soon.

Within a month, we’ll be back together under one roof. I CANNOT wait! I miss my hubby terribly. M + A miss their daddy terribly. In my mind I’m already planning more date nights, more family fun nights, more snuggling, more of the important stuff and less of the unimportant stuff. I’m counting down the days.

Wishing you a lovely evening. Until next time.
