My talented friend, Molly Winn, are her sweet-sweet (yes, they ‘re doubly sweet) family were recently in town and lucky for me, we decided to do a little photo swap. Molly photographed us once before, shortly after our move to Seattle, so I knew to be VERY excited! I was thrilled that this time I’d be photographing her family as well! They are FABULOUS, FUN and all-things WONDERFUL! And, little B. stole my heart. I hope one day she comes to visit me in her van filled with 100 dogs. It was fun scouting out a couple new locations for such a special session. And, if you’re wondering about the title of this post, almost every “No Parking Any Time” sign had an “unless you’re henry” sticker underneath it. So, we all became Henry. I’m so looking forward to this becoming a new yearly tradition… the Winn-Serra photo swap followed by a lovely dinner. Oh, and our session, you can take a peek at it HERE. I am so in love with the images Molly captured of us!

Until next time.

Being in New England is like being home for me. My fondest childhood memories were created there. My heart soars when I go back.

When I was in third grade, I met the beautiful mama below. She was in second grade. We’ve been best friends ever since. She’s the friend I picked when my Gramcracker (aka my grandma) told me I could invite someone to a special dinner at the Kahula. She’s the friend that I played with for hours on end. She’s the friend that always made me the best grilled cheese. She’s the friend I lip synced Bon Jovi and Michael Jackson songs with. She’s the friend that I always went back to visit when we moved to Florida. She’s the friend that has way too much dirt on me. Despite the miles between us, we’ve stayed connected throughout high school, college, marriage and motherhood. I’ve watched her grow into the incredible woman she is today… a loving mom, a devoted wife, a passionate nurse, a caring sister, and a loyal + kind + thoughtful + all-around-amazing friend. She’s such a BEAUTIFUL person, on the inside and out and a blessing to all those around her! I seriously don’t know what I’d do without this soul sister of mine!

Spending last week with my dear friend and her family did my heart good. I love her kiddos. I love her hubby. Her kiddos are awesome little people. They are so kind-hearted, loving and hilarious. They amaze me every time I visit. I love spending time with them and watching them grow.

My last night in town, we went on the the craziest boat ride of my life and then did this photo session just as the sun was setting. The evening was gorgeous and the light was magical. We had so much fun! And, we wouldn’t be who we are if an hour before heading to the airport we didn’t do an impromptu photo session behind a closed Circuit City. And, if you’re wondering, YES, you can fit a shopping cart into the back of a Suburban.

This is my attempt at a sneak peek. I had so many favorites and when you’ve been best friends with someone for almost 30 years, you’re going to have to give them almost 30 pictures. I hope they put a smile on your face.

Until next time.

These are my dear sweet friends. This beautiful mama and I have been friends since elementary school in Massachusetts. I celebrated with them at their wedding and was blessed to photograph their first born when he was just a couple of months old in Boston and then again when he was sitting and standing. Seems like just yesterday and now they’ve welcomed another precious little guy into their hearts. What an honor it is to photograph such a meaningful time in their lives. Such a fun morning with a family I love immensely.

Until next time.

My July… in grey and silver.

For those playing along or interested in joining our color project, we’re doing something a little different for August. This month we’re doing bright colors… think NEON, think the RAINBOW, think SUMMER. Any medium goes. The only rule is to be sure the color of the month is the subject of your project. We’re sharing our projects (images, collages, art, etc.) at the end of each month via facebook and our blogs. I’ve also created #ayearincolor on Instagram (oh my gosh, last year I didn’t even know what hashtags were, now look at me). It’s been a fun way to explore the world.

Until next time.

There’s something so magical about evening light, especially in the summer. It seems like it could just go on forever, which is so fitting for these charming boys. Their wonderful energy is endless and their smiles and laughter could warm you like the sun. It’s been four years since I’ve photographed this beautiful family and I have to say, whenever I’m with them, it’s like being with old friends. Such a nice feeling. It’s evenings like this that make what I do not even feel like work.

Until next time.
