Remember these two?

I photographed their engagement session over 3-1/2 years ago. It was such a joy to photograph them again… still madly in love and willing to act as silly as ever in the name of fun photography!

It was this time just a couple of weeks ago that I was saying goodbye to my mom in Louisiana. We met in Oregon on a Thursday and by Sunday we had crossed Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana. Were we exhausted? Yes. Did we have a blast spending four days together in the car? Yes. I wouldn’t trade that precious time I had with my mom for anything. My mom came armed with her highlighter, atlas, peanut-butter sandwiches and white cheddar popcorn, while I supplied us with books on CD and lip balm.

We made our way through lush green forests, volcanic fields, mountain ranges, quiet little towns in the middle of nowhere, bustling cities, open plains, desert land and across bridges that seemed to go on forever. We saw topless bike riders, fields after fields of cows, the Mile High Stadium and some of the prettiest sunsets.

We had two favorite stops along the way: the Dee Wright Observatory (built from lava rock during the Great Depression) in Oregon, which offers the most amazing panoramic view of the Cascade Mountain Range and The Bean Cycle in Fort Collins, Colorado. My mom and I shared the perfect pot of tea and cinnamon crumb cake.

I did pack my big girl camera, but it never made it out of the suitcase. My iPhone was handy and Instagram made it easy to edit + share from the road, so I went with it.

Our highlights from the road (via my iPhone)…

For some reason the Sesame Street theme song is running through my head right now: Sunny day, sweeping’ the clouds away…

Oh, how our Seattle summer was as wonderful and sunny as it gets. Probably the warmest summer here since our move from Florida. Normally, I’d be welcoming fall at this point, but I just want to hold onto the summer for a bit longer. Despite one of my kiddos breaking his arm, we packed in a serious amount of fun. Bedtimes, what’s that? Dinners became picnics. There were the occasional lunchtime concerts in the city. Day trips, go kart racing and running through the sprinkler (pre broken arm). Not to mention photographing some of the sweetest families and kiddos. And funny enough, all girls too. Other than my nutty guys, I don’t think I photographed any boys. So, girls RULED the summer!

And, speaking of girls, I just adore these three and their bunnies, ducks and sweet pup. Their love for fury and feathery friends could melt your heart. Their love for being silly could make you cry from laughter.

How lucky am I to spend a fun afternoon playing in the sun with them?!
