Hello friends! What an honor it was to be asked by a seriously talented group of ladies to join the Twelve by Twelve Project. I’m grateful to Laurel of Laurel Photography for the invitation and to Brooke of Hamilton Creek Photography for bringing us all together. This project is about us sharing life’s journey through our photography. Monthly themes were chosen by the Twelve’s. The group will be sharing images based on the monthly theme on our individual blogs and this is where it gets fun… one blog post will take you on a little blog circle through the twelve blogs. Just be sure to look for the link to the next member’s blog in each post (see below). This month’s theme is Home is Where the HEART is, which was chosen by the talented Tiffany Walensky.

I thought about this theme all week. My heart will forever be with my hubby, twin boys and nutty hound dog, so no matter where we are, which currently happens to be Seattle, I’m home. With that being said though I have these little heart strings that tug on me from Massachusetts, which is where I spent my childhood, met my very first best friend, learned to ice skate and swim (not on the same day), took dance classes, got my first cabbage patch kid doll, road my bike everywhere, had my first crush, put on lip sync shows to Christmas music with my Gram (who I affectionately call “Gramcracker”), made snow forts, the list goes on and on. And, then there’s Florida, a place that I initially protested moving to with great conviction, but  where I ultimately attended junior high, high school and college. It’s where I met my hubby and got married. It’s where I made some of my most dearest friendships, where my boys were born, where I started my photography business and where my Mom and Gramcracker still live. So, while we’re here in the beautiful Emerald City (a place I DID NOT protest moving to five years ago and a place I have grown to love), pieces of my heart are in other cities, miles away. I think it must come with the territory when you put down roots and love where are and then move on… those roots are always there. So, if you ask me where home is I just might have to say “Waflorimass.” Trust me, you’d love it there–some of the nicest people you could ever meet live there!

Oh, and yes, these are iPhone images. Sometimes the best camera is the one you have with you!

Now on to the next member in the Twelve by Twelve blog circle, the talented Rita of Infinity Photography by Rita. Enjoy your visit!

Until next time.

Saying “I like these two” is like saying, “I like donuts.”  If you know me, you know I LOVE donuts. I’d have one everyday if I could. I’d wallpaper one room in my house with donut wallpaper. I’d run in a donut race every year and dress up for it too–OH WAIT, I already do that. Well, that just goes to show how much I LOVE donuts and how much I LOVE these two… because I LOVE them like I LOVE donuts. They’re two of my VERY FAVORITE PEOPLE ON EARTH! Really, they’re incredible people, who happen to carry pockets full of sunshine everywhere they go! And, now they’re going to be parents… to a sweet baby girl. Oh, little Evie has lucked out with the most loving mom + dad. I’m counting down the weeks until my trip to Tampa in April when I get to squeeze all three of them and photograph their beautiful little family. Until then, I thought I’d share some images from their visit to Seattle in January.

Meet seven of the nine members of our Camera Cuties Club (they’re the cuties in the top left image below)! They’re the sweetest group of first and second graders, aspiring to be little photographers, event planners, marketing geniuses, fashion stylists and set designers (for the moment). Last weekend we pulled off our first charity photo session event… photos with HEART! These girls raised over $230 for our local animal shelter! They were by my side for every session… checking in clients, helping with props, taking polaroid pictures and making sure every kiddo left with a cookie. I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful to have them in my life! It was an incredible day filled with probably more fun then should be allowed and laughter that could be heard blocks away! I’m sure this is only the first of many special projects to come with the Camera Cuties Club, so stay tuned for future events. Oh, and the beautiful studio, a HUGE thank you to my friend, Sarah of Sarah Sweetman Photography for letting us have it for the afternoon. I just love this photography community!
